Articles in the January 15, 2006 issue of Car Dealer Insider identified some of the benchmarks used by leading automotive retailers to measure the performance of their dealerships. These operating guides were derived not from actual dealership results, but from the targets that these industry leaders seek to achieve. The leaders hit some of their targets and are still working on others.

The guidelines we featured are just some of the critical items under the direct control and influence of dealership managers. They can and should be measured monthly.
